With the release of his debut single “Mamo Biban”, Kurdish-Danish artist Rewan Riko drops a cinematic tale of love, resilience, and unshakable devotion — inspired by a gripping real-life journey through the snow-covered Kurdish mountains. The track marks a bold and emotional first step from an artist weaving memory and mood into sound.

The song tells the story of Riko’s uncle Biban, who sets out alone on a hundred-kilometre trek across the snow-covered Kurdish mountains in search of his brother. With no map, no plan, and no fear, he faces the journey’s extreme mental and physical challenges — driven only by love and the hope of reuniting with his family.

Mamo Biban is more than a debut — it’s a sonic postcard from the edge. At its core sits a question that resonates long after the beat fades: how far would you go for someone you love? Through lyrics and layered production, Riko builds a world where emotion overrides logic, and the heart becomes a compass.

The track was produced with rising electronic duo Heliograph, whose genre-blending instincts and breakout moments on SoundCloud have earned nods from Jamie Jones and Ape Drums. They’ll join Riko onstage for the track’s live premiere at Smukfest 2025 in a special “Sundown” set during the pre-show days.

Sonically, “Mamo Biban” blends evocative storytelling with expansive electronics, crafting a soundscape that hits as vast and vulnerable as the mountains that inspired it. It’s deeply personal — but its emotional charge is universal, built for anyone who’s followed love into the unknown.
